16 Days of Activism 2025: Standing with the Vulnerable
25 November – 10 December marks the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a movement that raises awareness, calls for justice, and encourages communities to stand alongside those affected by domestic abuse.
As followers of Christ, we believe that every person is made in God’s image and worthy of dignity, safety, and love. Domestic and family violence has no place in our homes, our community, or among God’s people. It grieves the heart of God, and it must grieve ours too.
The Sydney Anglican Network reminds us:
“Domestic abuse involves a pattern of behaviour that seeks to coerce, control, intimidate, hurt or frighten a person in an intimate or family relationship.”
These 16 days encourage us to:
Be informed about what domestic abuse is and how it affects families.
Be ready to listen with compassion, believing those who bravely speak up.
Be aware that it can happen in any community—even in churches.
Be prepared to love, support, and act wisely, seeking help from trained professionals, church leaders, and trusted care networks.
At Christ Church Lavender Bay, we pray that our community will be a safe place of refuge, restoration, and hope—a reflection of God’s heart for the brokenhearted:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
We invite you to explore resources, reflect on Bible-based guidance, and pray for those affected. The Domestic Violence Sunday page contains updates, supportive resources, and a helpful guide to get involved:

Let’s stand together as a community that listens with love, speaks with truth, and acts with compassion.
Who we are
Jesus is at the centre of all we do—and has been since our first services in 1872! We believe that the beauty, goodness and truth of Jesus are the balm our broken world needs today.
Wherever you are on your journey, there’s a place for you at Christ Church Lavender Bay.
