Songs for the Season
"Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the LORD; exult before him!"
Psalm 68:4–6
Friends, as we step into this new season, our music team is growing their repertoire list - some familiar treasures, some newer pieces that still need to be learned. While they practice, all of us can learn and meditate on these songs, letting their truths take root in our hearts.
1. Come Unto Jesus
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
This gentle song invites us to lay down our burdens and find true rest in the arms of Christ.
2. Before the Throne of God Above
"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace." Hebrews 4:16
This song reminds us that we have an Advocate in heaven Jesus Himself. When guilt whispers, this anthem shouts back with grace.
3. Because He Lives
"Because I live, you also will live." John 14:19
Life feels uncertain, but Christ’s resurrection anchors us. Tomorrow may be foggy, but the Son is already shining there.
4. In Christ Alone
"For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:11
We sing it as our unshakable truth: freed from guilt and fear, untouched by hell’s power, kept safe in Christ’s hands.
5. Here I Am to Worship
"Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness." Psalm 96:9
This is our reminder that worship is not about our performance but His worth. We show up, hearts open, saying, “Here I am.”
6. As the Deer
"My soul thirsts for God, for the living God." Psalm 42:2
This gentle song puts words to a deep longing: our souls pant for the Lord like thirsty deer by the water. And He never fails to quench us.
7. I Surrender All
"Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God." Romans 12:1
Surrender is where peace begins.
8. O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus
"…to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ." Ephesians 3:18
This hymn reminds us that Christ’s love is an endless ocean, carrying us, surrounding us, and drawing us deeper into His presence.
9. Only a Holy God
"Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!" Psalm 95:6
This song is a call to gather before the throne of the One who is unlike any other. He is holy, set apart, and yet He invites us to come near and worship Him.
10. Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
It’s not about how strong we are, but how strong Christ is.
11. The First Hymn
"To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen." 1 Timothy 1:17
Stars fall silent, rivers still, and mountains bow in awe, as all powers cry out in answer: “All glory and praise forever to our God - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.”
12. I’d Rather Have Jesus
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.” Philippians 3:7
True joy and contentment are found when we treasure Christ above all earthly gain.
